Secretary's Message

Firstly, I want to sincerely thank everyone in our Hills Labor Branch who has supported me and our team’s vision to genuinely put Labor on the map in The Hills Shire. With your backing, we’ve delivered some outstanding outcomes, including:

  • Strong and sustained branch growth

  • Expanded community outreach and engagement

  • Greater diversity that reflects the Hills Shire community

  • Unprecedented election results for Labor in our area

  • A more vibrant, inclusive and active branch structure

  • A new professional and comfortable meeting venue

  • A significant uplift in internal and external communications through our magazine

  • Enhanced use of technology and digital platforms across all of our campaigns

While we should be proud of this progress, there is still much more to achieve as we approach our AGM. I respectfully ask for your continued support of our executive team, along with all new nominations.

Unfortunately, as in previous years, we are again facing a factional push from individuals who do not share our vision for the branch. Rather than focusing on community engagement, growth and inclusion, they are engaging in internal manoeuvring as well as attempting to restrict new membership and limiting members’ ability to have a genuine say in our branch’s future.

As your Secretary, I have always supported fair and open democratic participation. However, I cannot support behaviour that undermines these principles or disregards the values our party stands for.

In unity,

Martin Cartwright

Secretary
